What Is Amazon Meltable Inventory?
Meltable inventory refers to products with a high risk of melting during shipping and storage. These products are typically made up of ingredients that can easily melt or change state when exposed to high temperatures. Some examples of Amazon meltables include chocolate, wax, and certain types of cosmetics.
Meltable products in Amazon fulfillment centers must withstand temperatures of 75 to 155 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.
Amazon introduced a restriction on meltable inventory to ensure that these products are properly stored and shipped to prevent any damage due to high temperatures during transit. This policy is in place to protect both the seller and the buyer, as damaged products can result in dissatisfied customers and lost sales.
Note. Sellers must ensure the customers receive their meltable products in satisfactory condition, no matter their fulfillment method — FBA or FBM. If a seller receives multiple meltable product complaints, Amazon may terminate the offer or even suspend the seller’s account.

What Are Amazon Meltables Dates?
Because the high temperature is not suitable for storing and fulfilling specific meltable products, Amazon doesn’t accept them all year round. Meltable dates are particular dates during the year when Amazon restricts the acceptance of meltable products in their fulfillment centers. These dates coincide with the warmer months when temperatures are higher and the risk of melting is greater.
Amazon fulfillment centers accept meltable inventory from October 16 to April 14 only. If your meltable items remain at the fulfillment center or arrive from April 15 to October 15, Amazon will not fulfill them and will dispose of them and charge you for that. To avoid that, you must remove your meltable inventory from Amazon FBA. Removal orders must be filed before April 15.
Amazon Meltables List
To ensure that your product is not classified as meltable, it is essential to know what types of products fall under this category. Generally, these are chocolate, power bars, gummies, and select jelly- and wax-based products.
Amazon has a list of ASINs that are classified as meltable products. You can find this Amazon Meltable ASIN List in the Seller Central portal under the Inventory tab. You can also download a list of meltable ASINs by this link. Amazon updates the list periodically, no later than March 1. If your product is on this list, you must follow Amazon's meltable inventory guidelines to avoid potential issues.
It is also important to note that products may be classified as meltable based on their specific formulation or packaging, even if they are not listed on the Amazon Meltables List. Therefore, it is crucial to assess the potential melting risk of your product and take appropriate measures to ensure proper storage and shipment.
Note. Items that require refrigeration, air conditioning, or freezing are prohibited on FBA all year round. The same concerns perishable products, like fresh meats, fruits, or vegetables.
How To Quickly Check Products For Meltable?
If your heat-sensitive product is not on Amazon’s Meltable list, and you are still unsure whether it belongs to the meltable category, it may not be easy to find that out. You can try to identify your product’s melting point by asking your supplier about its melting temperature.
However, there is a way to do it much easier. Seller Assistant App allows you to determine whether a product belongs to a meltable category right on the Amazon product and search pages. If a product belongs to a meltable category, Seller Assistant App will give you a Meltable Product Notification. If you see the Red Drop icon on your Amazon product or search page, that indicates that the product is meltable.
How To Exempt A Product From Meltable?
Suppose you sell a product classified as meltable, but you consider that it should be exempt from the meltable category. In that case, you must send a letter from the manufacturer to Amazon’s Selling Partner Support. The letter must be written on the manufacturer's letterhead.
Information to include in a letter of meltable exemption
- Specific products and ASINs;
- Confirmation that the ASIN can be stored at a maximum temperature of 155 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods;
- Point of contact for verification.

Since Amazon Meltables List doesn’t give you the complete picture of what products are meltable, it’s essential to proactively identify if your products may be classified as meltable.
